V XX ZWEETZ (www.vxxzweetz.com) is a creative production company founded in 2013. It creates projects in theatre, sound, radio, photography and documentaries. The company works in different languages and is based in Chiasso. The main purpose of the company is to raise awareness of social and existential issues.
Samuel Beckett wrote the radio play Words and Music at the beginning of the 1960’s for the BBC Third Programme. Words and Music tells the story of two prisoners, Bob and Joe, who are kept in a tower in an unidentifiable future. Croak, the old jailer, regularly visits them and demands that they define the meanings of such concepts as love, old age and sloth… Bob expresses himself through music and Joe through words. They meet on several occasions until one night a face appears and upsets the even relationship between the three characters.
As a talented director (with several online radio experiments under his belt), Alan Alpenfelt has transformed his company into a Beckettian sound ensemble with a suggestive and original theatrical approach. The show was successful when it first opened at the “Piccolo Teatro” in Milan and was followed by a number of performances in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Words und Music remains disarmingly modern even in today’s world. With an incredible poetic potential, Beckett’s dramatic genius becomes one with Alpenfelt’s theatrical vision in an amazing show of visuals, sound and emotions. The Words und Music team presents us with one of the most astonishing shows from Switzerland’s Italian-speaking community.
