Duration 1:15 – In french – Surtitles german, english

Baron Münchhausen is 295 years old and has been living in a hospital room for 100 years. Is he really ill or is he just trying to get the attention of the doctors and of his son? His son comes to visit him in the hospital, and the room transforms into the theatre of the mad adventures of the Baron. Thanks to a clever blend of digital effects and theatrical tricks, we are transported straight into the Baron's wild adventures: on earth underground and in outer space, ending at the Rock of Gibraltar where he draws up "the list of things to imagine so they can be proven later."

This production was born out of a mutual challenge between two theatre and poetry fanatics. Fabrice Melquiot, one of the most most performed authors of his generation, has headed the Théâtre Am Stram Gram in Geneva since 2012. He gave Joan Mompart a sensitive adaptation of the novel The Surprising Adventures of Baron Münchausen written by Rudolf Erich Raspe (1785). Joan Mompart is a Swiss actor and director of Catalan origin. Alongside a distinguished career as an actor, with Omar Porras among others, in 2010 he directed his first production, an outlandish, whimsical and musical staging of Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen. An ardent defender of the performing arts as a tool for understanding the world through poetry, he also supports political theatre. In 2014, he staged the comedy On ne paie pas, on ne paie pas! by Dario Fo, bringing to it his passion and his indignation.

With Münchhausen?, Mompart and Melquiot combine their talents to celebrate fantasy and absurdity, and sound the call for a poetic awakening.
